The City of Beverly Hills has selected Maribel Mena to serve as its new Assistant City Clerk, officials announced this week.
Mena brings more than 20 years of combined leadership, public records, and records management experience to the City Clerk’s Office, where she will play a key role in modernizing records operations and supporting day-to-day clerk functions.
City Clerk Huma Ahmed welcomed Mena’s appointment, citing her extensive background in public records administration.
“In her new role, she will lead the development and implementation of a new citywide records management program while providing support in City Clerk operations,” Ahmed said. “I am confident her experience in public records processing will be of tremendous benefit to our office and the community.”
Prior to joining Beverly Hills, Mena served as an associate director with the Internal Revenue Service in the Privacy, Governmental, Liaison and Disclosure division. In that role, she led national Disclosure and Freedom of Information Act programs, overseeing a nationwide team responsible for managing the IRS’s official FOIA records program and public portal.
Her experience includes transitioning large-scale paper and electronic archives into fully automated workflows, a skillset expected to support the city’s efforts to improve access, efficiency, and compliance across departments.
Mena assumed her new position on Monday, December 15.
