The City of Beverly Hills has officially launched a Green Business Program designed to recognize and certify local businesses that take measurable steps to reduce their environmental footprint.
Participating businesses complete a sustainability checklist covering areas such as water efficiency, energy conservation, waste reduction, recycling practices, and pollution prevention. Throughout the certification process, the City’s Green Business Coordinators provide free technical assistance and resources to help applicants implement practical, cost-effective improvements.
City officials said the program is intended to support businesses in making environmentally responsible choices while maintaining operational flexibility. Certified businesses receive a certificate and window decal to display for customers and employees and may also be featured on the City’s dedicated webpage and social media channels.
“Beverly Hills has long led by example when it comes to sustainability,” Mayor Sharona Nazarian said. “I was proud to help advance an ordinance that encourages a simple but meaningful shift. Plastic cutlery is available upon request, rather than provided automatically, reducing unnecessary waste while still respecting individual choice. Sustainability works best when it is collaborative, not burdensome or punitive. By educating, supporting, and working together, we can make thoughtful choices that protect our environment while building a better future for our children as a united community.”
The City said several local businesses have already completed the certification process, including Alo Yoga, Le Swim, LA Main Physical Therapy, Le Reve Beauty Lounge, Kartoon Studios, Clark Street Bakery, and Selfish.
City officials said the program is open to all businesses located within Beverly Hills that hold a current City business license and comply with applicable City and County ordinances.
Businesses interested in participating can apply through the City’s website at beverlyhills.org/greenbusiness.
