Stephanie Harris, the City of Beverly Hills’ current director of community services, has been selected as the next assistant city manager, city officials announced March 26.
Harris will join incoming City Manager Ryan Gohlich and Deputy City Manager Keith Sterling in the City Manager’s Office this July, when the transition takes place following the retirement of City Manager Nancy Hunt-Coffey.
In her current role, Harris oversees the Community Services Department, which includes administrative support, library services, arts and culture, and recreation and parks. Her selection places a longtime city staff member into a broader leadership role at a time of change inside City Hall.
“I am very pleased to welcome Stephanie to the role of Assistant City Manager,” said Gohlich. “During her 12 years with Beverly Hills, Stephanie has elevated our programs, built collaborative relationships, and demonstrated versatility and sound leadership. I look forward to her partnership in the years ahead.”
As assistant city manager, Harris will help oversee day-to-day city operations, provide leadership over selected departments and work closely with the Beverly Hills City Council.
“I am thankful to Ryan for the privilege of serving as the next Assistant City Manager,” said Harris. “I am proud to work with dedicated and talented colleagues and look forward to supporting the City Council and Ryan while serving this outstanding community in the years ahead.”
Harris first joined the city in 2014 as a management analyst in the Community Services Department. She later advanced to senior management analyst and community services manager before moving to the City Manager’s Office in 2022 as community outreach manager.
She returned to Community Services in 2023 as interim director and was later appointed permanent director. Before coming to Beverly Hills, Harris worked for 11 years in the City of Rosemead’s Parks and Recreation Department.
Harris holds a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Los Angeles, and a master’s degree in public administration from California State University, Northridge.
