Beverly Hills Police Promote Kevin Orth to Captain

The Beverly Hills Police Department has announced the promotion of Kevin M. Orth to captain, effective September 19, 2026. Orth will lead the Administrative Services Division following two decades with the department.

His new assignment includes oversight of the Personnel & Training, Records and Communications bureaus, along with the department's Budget Team.

Orth joined BHPD as a police cadet in 2006 and became a police officer the following year. His assignments have included patrol officer, DUI enforcement officer, canine officer, patrol sergeant, detective sergeant and patrol lieutenant.

Throughout his career, Orth has overseen patrol operations, the Field Training Officer Program, the Canine Unit and Crime Lab operations, according to the department.

Since late 2024, he has served as executive officer in the Office of the Chief. In that position, his responsibilities have included the Professional Standards Unit, Community Relations Unit, media relations and public information functions, the Reserve Unit and Disaster Communication System volunteers.

Orth holds a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. His professional training includes California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training supervisory and management schools, the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy and the San Diego County Regional Leadership Institute. He also holds POST Advanced, Supervisory and Management certificates.

His career honors include the Allen H. Karlin Award for Exemplary Police Work, the MADD Award, the Masonic Police Award and recognition as Beverly Hills Patrol Officer of the Year.
