Beverly Hills Public Works Director Shana Epstein to Retire

Beverly Hills Public Works Director Shana Epstein will retire from public service effective October 9, 2026, and has accepted a position in the private sector, the city announced.

Epstein has led the department since 2017, overseeing more than 200 employees responsible for the city's infrastructure and utilities. Before coming to Beverly Hills, she served as general manager of Ventura Water.

City Manager Ryan Gohlich thanked Epstein for her work in Beverly Hills and her career in public service.

"Under Shana's watch, the legendary landscape and infrastructure of Beverly Hills have remained world-class, and the department has been a leader in sustainability, conservation and municipal services."

Epstein said she valued the work and relationships she built during her time with the city.

"The opportunity to lead the Beverly Hills Public Works team has truly been an honor and privilege. I have enjoyed the work we have accomplished and the many colleagues that I am able to call friends."

Gohlich is expected to announce plans for filling the director position in the coming weeks.
