Under bright October skies, Beverly Vista Middle School officially opened its new athletic field with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that drew cheers from dozens of uniformed athletes.
The upgraded space features fresh turf, updated safety elements, and a full-size layout built for competition and daily training. For years, the campus had made do with an older, undersized field; the new one ends that chapter.
Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss told the crowd the project shows what community support can accomplish.
“This field is a shining example of what happens when a community comes together to support its schools,” Cherniss said. “The students of BVMS now have a space that reflects the strength of their school spirit and the district’s commitment to excellence.”
City Council Member Lester Friedman joined members of the Beverly Hills Police Department, Board of Education representatives, district administrators, and Principal Rich Waters on the sideline. Student athletes handled the ceremonial scissors and led the countdown.
With the ribbon down, players immediately sprinted onto the turf, marking the start of a new era for Bulldog athletics.
