In the weeks leading up to its return to the K.L. Peters Auditorium, the Beverly Hills High School Dance Company has been taking its work beyond campus, visiting every elementary and middle school in the district as part of a districtwide outreach tour.

The initiative brought live dance performances directly to younger students, offering previews of the company’s upcoming production while creating opportunities for conversation and engagement. At each stop, students were able to watch the performers up close, ask questions about training and performance, and learn more about the dance pathway available to them as they move through the district.

District officials said the tour was designed to strengthen connections across grade levels and introduce students to the performing arts in a setting that feels accessible and personal. For many younger students, the experience offered their first exposure to live dance performed by peers from within their own school system.

The outreach reflects Beverly Hills Unified School District’s broader emphasis on arts education and cross-campus collaboration, particularly as the district prepares to reopen the historic K.L. Peters Auditorium later this month.

“This tour reflects the heart of what makes Beverly Hills Unified special,” Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss said. “Our high school students are inspiring the next generation, building connections across campuses, and showing younger learners what is possible when creativity and opportunity come together.”

The timing of the tour coincides with the Dance Company’s upcoming return to the K.L. Peters Auditorium, which is set to reopen after years offline. Performances beginning January 28 will mark the first dance productions to take place in the renovated venue, signaling a renewed chapter for performing arts on the Beverly Hills High School campus.

District leaders said the tour not only highlighted student talent but also reinforced the idea that arts education is a continuous pathway, beginning in elementary school and extending through high school and beyond.

As younger students watched dancers only a few years older than themselves perform, administrators noted that the experience helped demystify the arts and made participation feel attainable. The district said it plans to continue fostering similar opportunities that allow students to learn from one another while building a cohesive arts community across campuses.
