The Beverly Hills Police Department's Super Troopers softball team has completed a turnaround, going from a winless season to league champions with a 15-10 victory over the FSLA Doheny Legends on October 8, 2026, according to a department press release.
Just one season earlier, the Super Troopers had finished with a 0-10 record against experienced recreational softball teams. This year, the department's co-ed team returned to face competition that included teams representing several Beverly Hills hotels.
The championship game provided one final test. Trailing 7-1, the Super Troopers mounted a comeback to claim the title.
“Last year, we didn’t win a single game, and this year, we’re champions,” said team captain Sergeant Eric Bender. “What makes this team special is that everyone contributed, supported each other, and never gave up. We were down 7-1 in the championship game, but we kept fighting and found a way to win.”
The team brings together sworn officers and civilian employees from different bureaus and units within BHPD. Its players have served the City of Beverly Hills for anywhere from two to more than 25 years.
What began as an opportunity for colleagues to spend time together outside the workplace has developed into a program that builds friendships and strengthens relationships across the department, according to BHPD.
Chief of Police Max Subin praised both the championship performance and the connections formed among department personnel.
“I’m incredibly proud of this team, not just for winning the championship, but for the relationships they’ve built along the way,” said Chief of Police Max Subin. “Bringing our personnel together from different areas of the Department strengthens the teamwork and trust that are so important to the work we do every day serving our community.”
For the Super Troopers, the championship marks a complete reversal from last season's ten losses, with teamwork and persistence at the center of their success.
