BHUSD Campaign Signs Reported Stolen From Beverly Hills Lawns

According to accounts circulating among residents, a white Tesla Model Y was seen stopping near homes displaying campaign signs. Residents described the vehicle as having silver wheels and a roof rack and said a passenger would exit the vehicle, remove campaign signs from private property and return to the Tesla.

At least one surveillance video reviewed by the Beverly Hills Standard shows an individual walking from the direction of a residential lawn while carrying what appears to be a campaign-style yard sign. A white Tesla Model Y is visible nearby. The image alone does not establish who was driving or riding in the vehicle, nor does it establish the identity of the individual carrying the sign.

Residents discussing the incidents said signs supporting Manouchehri, the current BHUSD Board president who is seeking reelection, and Cienfuegos, an attorney and BHUSD parent seeking his first term on the Board, were among those reported missing.

The reports come less than two months before Beverly Hills voters select two members of the Board of Education in the Nov. 3 election. Manouchehri and Cienfuegos are campaigning separately but have appeared together at community events, including a recent South Peck Drive meet-and-greet where Manouchehri spoke about Cienfuegos' previous involvement with district issues.

Beverly Hills permits political yard signs on private residential property subject to size, number and placement requirements. City regulations specifically recognize political signs as a form of expression protected by the First Amendment.

The Beverly Hills Standard has not independently established how many signs were taken, whether all of the reported incidents involved the same vehicle or individuals, or whether any suspects have been identified. No Beverly Hills Police Department announcement regarding the reported incidents had been located as of publication.

Residents with surveillance footage or information concerning signs removed from private property are encouraged to preserve the original recordings and provide them to law enforcement.
