Leadership from the Beverly Hills Unified School District (BHUSD) stepped up this weekend at the City of Beverly Hills’ “Fun in the Sun” Emergency Preparedness Fair, hosted at Roxbury Memorial Park by the Just in Case BH program. This annual event has become a touchstone of civic responsibility, community unity, and practical readiness.
In a visible show of support, BHUSD Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss, Board of Education President Rachelle Marcus, and Board Member Russell Stuart joined hands with Beverly Hills Mayor Sharon Nazarian, Councilmember Craig Corman, countless communiter residents, first responders, and local organizations to underscore the importance of preparedness with purpose.
The Beverly Hills Education Foundation (BHEF), always a reliable ally in the mission to enrich student lives, energized the event with games and relays that made learning safety approachable and engaging for families.
Interactive booths from trusted groups such as Just in Case BH, BHCPR, the American Red Cross, and Kids Are 1st offered essential demonstrations and materials—empowering attendees with the tools and confidence to face emergencies with clarity and calm.
“This event was a great example of what makes Beverly Hills such a special place. It’s not just about services, it’s about people coming together to learn, support one another, and strengthen our community,”said Dr. Cherniss.
“Even as summer begins, the work of keeping our families informed, connected, and prepared continues. I’m proud to represent BHUSD at events like these, where partnership and purpose come together.”The timing is more than symbolic. As schools break for summer, BHUSD’s presence at events like these reaffirms a guiding truth: student wellness and community resilience are year-round priorities. Through principled leadership and steadfast community ties, the district continues to foster not only academic excellence but civic strength—one prepared family at a time.
