BHUSD Leadership Team Prepares for 2026-2027 School Year

Beverly Hills Unified School District leaders are preparing for the start of the 2026-2027 school year with a series of planning, professional development and collaboration efforts taking place across the District.

Last week, BHUSD brought its leadership team together at the Hawthorne Campus for a Districtwide leadership retreat focused on strengthening schools, supporting employees and preparing for the year ahead.

The retreat gave administrators and District leaders dedicated time to review priorities, coordinate work across schools and departments and strengthen alignment before students return to campus.

"Some of the most important work of a school year begins long before students return to campus," said BHUSD Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss. "Bringing our leadership team together gives us the opportunity to align around our priorities, learn from one another, and make sure we are prepared to provide our students and staff with an exceptional year from the very first day."

The leadership retreat is part of a broader period of preparation underway throughout BHUSD during the final weeks of summer.

Across the District, administrators, teachers, staff and individual departments are preparing classrooms, reviewing programs, strengthening instructional practices and making sure campuses are ready for the return of students and families.

The summer period provides BHUSD employees with time to address operational needs, coordinate programs and focus on the systems and support structures that will be in place throughout the coming school year.

District leaders also used the retreat to collaborate across departments and campuses, helping ensure that schools begin the year with shared priorities and clear communication among leadership teams.

With the first day of school approaching, BHUSD is now moving from summer planning into final campus preparations as employees across the District prepare to welcome students, families and staff back for the 2026-2027 school year.
