Donna Tryfman remained ahead of David Ross in the race for Los Angeles County Superior Court, Office No. 131, as the county released another election-results update Wednesday afternoon.
In the county's displayed results for the judicial contest, Tryfman had 859,327 votes, or 52.49%, compared with 777,801 votes, or 47.51%, for Ross. Her lead stood at 81,526 votes, a margin of 4.98 percentage points. Those race totals matched the county's earlier November 4 count.
At 4:28:25 p.m. on November 4, the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk's live election dashboard showed 2,279,750 ballots counted countywide, up from 2,147,243 in the earlier 3:11:55 a.m. bulletin. That was an increase of 132,507 ballots counted countywide. However, the Office No. 131 vote totals displayed on the same dashboard had not changed. The countywide increase should not be mistaken for additional votes reported in this particular judicial race.
The results are preliminary and the race has not been certified. The county is continuing to process and count ballots, and future contest-specific updates could change the margin.
The contest is for a nonpartisan position on the Los Angeles County Superior Court. Tryfman and Ross advanced from the June 2 primary, which included four candidates. In that primary, Tryfman received 612,858 votes and Ross received 546,032 votes.
Tryfman is a veteran Los Angeles County deputy public defender who previously served on Beverly Hills' Rent Stabilization Commission. Ross is a longtime criminal defense attorney and a Beverly Hills High School graduate.
The Los Angeles County official election results provide the race totals, and the county's results information page describes continuing post-election ballot processing. The figures in this article reflect the Office No. 131 results displayed when the county's 4:28 p.m. November 4 bulletin was checked and may change in a subsequent update.
