The Treasurer is responsible for safeguarding the City's investments. As the City's Treasurer I will continue in that tradition of integrity, transparency, and financial stability. And I will not bow to special interests, especially developers. As your Treasurer I helped solve the City's $370 million pension deficit, oversee the City's $500 million investment portfolio, adopted Anti-Boycott and ESG investment practices, and revamped the Treasurer's monthly and quarterly reports to make them more readable and useful. In the future, I will work to enhance and refine the budgeting process by instituting a periodic zero-base budget process with a top to bottom review of all aspects of our Departments and examine what is needed and what is not. I've been the past Chair of the Planning and Public Works Commissions, president of the Beverly Hills Bar, Cub-Scout Leader - BH Troop 100, Board of Temple Emanuel, BHHS Class of 1969 (as our son), my wife Francine of 44 years and I both work in Beverly Hills. Simply put: It ain't broke, don't fix it. There is no need for a change. The City Treasurer's office is too important - it should not be used as a "stepping-stone."
