Former Beverly Hills Deputy Fire Chief Arrested in Stalking Case

Alfred Poirier, the former second-in-command of the Beverly Hills Fire Department, has been arrested on suspicion of stalking and vandalism in an investigation involving computer-generated images posted at city facilities, police announced.

Poirier, 63, of Santa Clarita, was booked at the Beverly Hills Police Department and released on a $150,000 bond. Detectives identified him as a suspect after multiple incidents of vandalism were discovered in the city on September 21, according to the department.

"BHPD Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding these incidents, but preliminary information indicates that Poirier posted computer-generated images at various city facilities on multiple occasions," the department said.

Police did not describe the images, identify the facilities involved or name an alleged stalking victim. The release also did not explain what conduct formed the basis of the stalking allegation or specify the extent of any property damage.

Poirier was arrested on suspicion of stalking under California Penal Code Section 646.9 and vandalism under Section 594. The police announcement did not report a decision by prosecutors on filing charges. An arrest is not a finding of guilt.

The case involves a former senior fire official whom Beverly Hills recruited after a lengthy career with the Los Angeles Fire Department. The city announced Poirier's appointment in August 2022, with a September 6 start date.

As deputy fire chief, Poirier was assigned to oversee emergency response operations, the Safety and Training Division, and system integration. The position made him the Beverly Hills Fire Department's second-in-command.

Before joining Beverly Hills, Poirier served as the Los Angeles Fire Department's chief deputy of emergency operations. The city's hiring announcement described him as a 35-year veteran of firefighting in California.

The BHPD release identifies Poirier as a former employee but does not provide his departure date or describe the circumstances of his departure.

Police said Poirier is scheduled to appear at Los Angeles County Superior Court's Airport Courthouse. The investigation remains open, and the department said it would release additional information as the case progresses.
