Horace Mann Elementary School turned its campus into a lively community gathering spot on Saturday, hosting the 9th Annual Husky Hoedown. The event drew students, parents, staff, and local partners for a day centered on connection and school pride.
The Hoedown offered a wide mix of activities that kept the campus buzzing. Children lined up for games, face painting, and inflatable play zones, while families stopped by the petting zoo and visited the bake sale. One of the day’s biggest draws was the annual chili cook-off, where community members shared homemade recipes in a friendly competition.
Local support played a major role in the event’s success. Members of the Beverly Hills Fire Department and the Beverly Hills Firefighters’ Association prepared and served food throughout the day, adding a meaningful sense of partnership to the festivities.
"This event is a powerful reflection of what makes BHUSD so special," Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss said. "It’s not just about fun, it’s about strengthening community, honoring tradition, and creating lasting memories for our students and families. We are so grateful to everyone who helped make the Hoedown a success."
The Horace Mann PTA led the planning and volunteer efforts that brought the Hoedown to life. Their work transformed the campus into a colorful, welcoming celebration that highlighted the spirit and teamwork found across the school community.
