Lipton Coins, Fine Art & Antiques has opened a gallery at 9478 W. Olympic Blvd., bringing fine art, historic objects and rare coins together in one Beverly Hills space.
The gallery buys and sells original art, antiques, decorative objects, jewelry, precious metals and numismatic collectibles, and offers evaluations. Its displays include Tiffany Studios lighting, Art Nouveau glass by Émile Gallé, chromolithographs by Alphonse Mucha and early American gold coins, according to the gallery's announcement.
A gilded bronze casting of the Victory figure from Augustus Saint-Gaudens' monument to Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman is among the works on view. The gallery says the sculpture is insured for $3 million. The monument stands near the southeast corner of New York's Central Park. The Metropolitan Museum of Art identifies the same Victory figure as the inspiration for the striding Liberty on Saint-Gaudens' $20 gold coin.
"We are an important Southern California resource for buying, selling, and obtaining professional evaluations of original works of fine art from masters to moderns," gallery director Bryan Abbott said in the announcement.
