Beverly Hills Mayor Sharona Nazarian traveled to Washington, D.C. last week to participate in the 94th Winter Meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, joining more than 270 mayors from cities across the country for national policy discussions and collaboration.
The annual gathering, led by U.S. Conference of Mayors President David Holt, Mayor of Oklahoma City, brought local leaders together to exchange strategies, share municipal successes, and address challenges affecting communities nationwide. Topics included housing and affordability, public safety, economic uncertainty, immigration, and the protection of local decision-making authority.
Nazarian said the conference provided an opportunity to advocate for Beverly Hills at the federal level while engaging with peers on best practices being implemented in cities across the United States.
“Joining my colleagues at the 94th National Conference of Mayors in Washington, D.C. was an important opportunity to advocate for Beverly Hills at our nation’s capital and collaborate with mayors from across the country on shared challenges and best practices,” Nazarian said. “Throughout the conference, we exchanged ideas on innovative solutions, including the responsible use of technology and AI to better serve our residents, as well as regional coordination in preparation for global events such as FIFA and LA28. I was honored to sit on a panel to highlight Beverly Hills initiatives focused on human services and healthcare, including our wraparound services for unhoused individuals, our Nurse Practitioner Program, and the Beverly Hills Wellness Network.”
According to the mayor’s office, Nazarian participated in discussions addressing how cities are preparing for major international events, managing public safety concerns, and coordinating services for vulnerable populations. The conference also provided a forum for mayors to compare approaches to healthcare access, homelessness response, and the use of technology in local government operations.
The U.S. Conference of Mayors Winter Meeting serves as a national platform for city leaders to coordinate advocacy priorities and share policy approaches as municipalities respond to economic, social, and infrastructure challenges facing residents.
