Beverly Hills Mayor Sharona Nazarian formally began her reelection effort Monday morning at Beverly Hills Tower on Canon Drive, gathering residents, business leaders, and community stakeholders for a nomination signing event as she reflected on her first year as mayor and outlined priorities heading into the June 2026 municipal election.

The rooftop gathering overlooking City Hall served as an early organizing moment for supporters as Nazarian reflected on her first year as mayor and signaled her intention to continue her work on public safety, community engagement, and quality of life issues facing the city.

“I'm doing this for you, our incredible community and our residents,” Nazarian told supporters. "I have my vision, but it is meaningless without the input of all of our community members and sharing what is actually important to all of you."

Nazarian was sworn in as mayor on April 1, 2025, becoming the first Iranian-American woman to serve as mayor of Beverly Hills under the City Council’s rotating mayoral system. Her term unfolded during a period marked by regional crime concerns, state-level mandates affecting local governance, and ongoing pressures on small businesses.

Throughout her year as mayor, Nazarian emphasized public safety as a core priority. Early in her tenure, she advocated for closer coordination with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office to pursue misdemeanor prosecutions, arguing that visible enforcement and accountability were necessary to deter crime and protect residents, employees, and visitors.

Beyond public safety, Nazarian focused on expanding civic access and participation. Her administration placed renewed emphasis on resident engagement through community forums, business outreach initiatives in coordination with the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, and structured opportunities for younger professionals and emerging leaders to participate in local policy discussions.

Her year in office was also defined by a public emphasis on unity and civic tone. Nazarian hosted and participated in events addressing diversity and inclusion, convened discussions on issues ranging from economic stability to neighborhood quality of life, and reinforced Beverly Hills’ public stance against hate and discrimination through city-supported programs and public statements.

At Mondays’s nomination signing event, Nazarian framed her reelection effort as a continuation of the work undertaken during her first year as mayor, pointing to the importance of sustained engagement with residents as the city confronts evolving challenges.

“Looking ahead, my focus is clear. We must continue to program, prioritize public safety, economic vitality, and the preservation of Beverly Hills' unique character. We will utilize technology as our strength to be a force multiplier. And my promise to you is very simple. I will continue to listen. I will continue to communicate with all of you and lead with integrity, transparency, dedication, and most of all to get things done for you.“

With the June 2026 election now in view, Nazarian’s campaign is expected to center on public safety, economic stability, and maintaining Beverly Hills’ quality of life, while expanding channels for resident participation across neighborhoods and stakeholder groups. Monday’s event marked the formal beginning of that effort as supporters signed nomination paperwork and campaign organizing moved into its next phase.

“Thank you for your support. Thank you for your trust, your partnership. I am so honored to continue this incredible journey with every single one of you."
