The Beverly Hills Police Officers Association has formally endorsed Mayor Sharona Nazarian, Councilmember Lester Friedman and Beverly Hills Unified School District Board of Education member Russell Stuart in the upcoming Beverly Hills City Council election, giving all three candidates a public safety credential from one of the city’s most visible public employee groups.
In announcing the endorsements, the BHPOA said its decision was rooted in what it described as a clear focus on public safety and support for the officers who serve Beverly Hills. The association said it evaluated the candidates based on their record, judgment and willingness to back policies and resources that strengthen law enforcement and protect residents.
The endorsement gives Nazarian and Friedman another institutional show of support as both seek reelection, while also providing Stuart with a notable boost as he continues building his case to voters around public safety, leadership and support for the city’s police officers.
The association pointed to Nazarian and Friedman as leaders with established records on public safety, saying both have consistently supported the resources and policy decisions needed for officers to do their jobs effectively in a city that places a premium on security, quality of life and rapid response.
For Stuart, the union highlighted what it described as a strong and principled commitment to public safety through his service on the Beverly Hills school board and broader community involvement. The association said Stuart has shown that he understands the role of law enforcement and the need for officers to have the support, tools and leadership necessary to perform their duties safely and effectively.
The endorsement arrives as public safety remains a central issue in Beverly Hills politics, with candidates expected to continue addressing policing, recruitment, retention, resources and the city’s broader approach to maintaining one of the safest communities in the region.
“These endorsements reflect our confidence that Mayor Nazarian, Councilmember Friedman, and Mr. Stuart will continue to prioritize the safety of Beverly Hills residents and support the officers who serve this community every day,” said Beverly Hills Police Officers Association President Christian Bond. “Public safety is not negotiable, it is the foundation of a thriving community. These candidates understand that, and their actions have consistently reflected it.”
The BHPOA said its endorsements were based solely on the candidates’ demonstrated support for public safety and for the men and women of the association, adding that it does not make political endorsements lightly. The group said it weighs whether candidates are committed to leadership and policies that strengthen public safety, support law enforcement professionals and uphold the highest standards of community protection.
With the election approaching, the endorsement gives voters another signal about where the city’s police officers believe leadership should be headed, particularly on issues tied to law enforcement support and community safety.
The association said it will continue advocating for leadership that keeps Beverly Hills among the safest cities in the nation and encouraged residents to support candidates who recognize the central importance of public safety.
