Beverly Hills Unified School District marked Kindness Week with coordinated activities across all five campuses, highlighting student leadership, empathy, and community service in partnership with the City of Beverly Hills Health and Human Relations Commission.
At Beverly Hills High School and Beverly Vista Middle School, students took part in Kindness Pledge activities during lunchtime, sharing reflections and making personal commitments to help build school environments rooted in respect and belonging. The lunchtime events created space for peer-to-peer engagement around how daily actions shape campus culture.
Beverly Vista Middle School also received the Kindness Award from the Kindness is Free organization, recognizing the campus for its ongoing efforts to foster a culture centered on compassion, inclusion, and positive behavior.
At El Rodeo Elementary School and Horace Mann Elementary School, students created a Banner of Gratitude honoring local first responders. The project encouraged younger students to reflect on service and civic responsibility while expressing appreciation to those who serve the community.
District leaders said the week’s activities were designed to reinforce the idea that student success extends beyond academics and includes how students treat one another and contribute to the broader Beverly Hills community.
“Kindness is foundational to who we are as a district,” said BHUSD Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss. “When we collaborate with community partners like the Health and Human Relations Commission, we create meaningful opportunities for students to practice empathy, demonstrate leadership, and strengthen the connections that make Beverly Hills such a special place.”
BHUSD Board Member Dr. Amanda Stern, the district’s liaison to the Health and Human Relations Commission, and Board Member Russell Stuart were present in support of the week’s activities.
District officials said BHUSD remains focused on helping students thrive with integrity in a changing world, pairing academic goals with values centered on compassion, inclusion, and community responsibility.
