Golden Globes Plans a Week of Beverly Hills Events for 2027

Beverly Hills councilmembers backed a planned week of Golden Globes events in January 2027 while limiting the additional city support requested for the expanded program.

The October 20 staff report for study-session Item A-2 describes Golden Globes Golden Week as a January 4-10 series proposed by Penske Media Corporation in partnership with the city, the Beverly Hills Conference and Visitors Bureau, the Chamber of Commerce and the Rodeo Drive Committee.

Proposed activities include an inaugural Golden Globes Restaurant Week, a Women's Wear Daily cocktail party and Museum of Legends fashion activation, luxury-brand dinners and a SHE Media Illuminate awards ceremony. Some venues and participating brands were still being finalized at the time of the presentation.

The staff report identifies the proposed City Hall kickoff and Museum of Legends activation as public events, with Restaurant Week promoted to the local community. The program also continues proposed opportunities for Beverly Hills High School students to interview awards-show staff and crew and obtain show-day media access.

The financial request totaled $61,115: a $50,000 direct contribution, $9,515 for 32 street-pole banners and $1,600 for City Hall lighting. The direct contribution included $25,000 already budgeted through the visitors bureau and a request for an additional $25,000.

During the study-session discussion, councilmembers supported retaining the existing $25,000 contribution. They initially discussed including banner costs within that amount, then agreed to support banners and City Hall lighting separately after a further request from the presenters. Those two items total $11,115 under the staff report's estimates. The Council did not support the additional $25,000 direct contribution.

That outcome was direction reached by consensus at the study session, rather than a recorded roll-call vote approving every proposed event. The proposed week still includes activities whose venues or participation details were not final.

The awards ceremony itself is scheduled for January 10, 2027, at the Beverly Hilton, according to the Golden Globes' official timetable.
