Mayor Corman Invites Beverly Hills to Ride Metro to Dodger Day

Beverly Hills residents will have an opportunity to ride Metro alongside Mayor Craig Corman later this month as the City launches "Metro with the Mayor," a new community initiative designed to introduce residents to destinations across Los Angeles using the recently expanded D Line.

The program's inaugural outing, Beverly Hills Dodger Day, is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 16, when Corman will join community members for a trip from the Wilshire/La Cienega Metro station to Dodger Stadium for the Los Angeles Dodgers' afternoon game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Metro ride with the mayor is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. Participants will travel on the D Line from Wilshire/La Cienega to Union Station, where they can transfer to the Dodger Stadium Express for the trip to the ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m.

The outing places the City's newest transportation connection at the center of a community event. The Wilshire/La Cienega station opened May 8 as part of the first section of Metro's D Line Extension, bringing subway service directly to the eastern edge of Beverly Hills.

The extension added stations at Wilshire/La Brea, Wilshire/Fairfax and Wilshire/La Cienega and extended the D Line west from its previous terminus at Wilshire/Western. Metro estimates that riders can travel between Wilshire/La Cienega and Union Station in approximately 20 minutes without transferring trains.

For Beverly Hills, the Dodger Day outing is intended to give residents a practical example of what that new connection can provide.

The City describes "Metro with the Mayor" as an opportunity for residents to experience firsthand how Metro can connect Beverly Hills with destinations throughout the Los Angeles region. The Dodger game will serve as the first of what the City says will be a series of community rides organized around different destinations and areas.

The City has said future outings are expected to explore Southeast Beverly Hills, the historic Wilshire Corridor and other regional destinations, using the rides to demonstrate how the expanding rail system connects Beverly Hills with surrounding communities.

The initiative comes as Beverly Hills adjusts to a major change in how residents, employees and visitors can reach the City. The opening of Wilshire/La Cienega marked the first operating Metro rail station within Beverly Hills, following years of construction associated with the D Line Extension.

The City has simultaneously promoted what it calls its "Metro Ready" effort, bringing together Beverly Hills Police, Fire, Public Works, outreach teams and other City resources in preparation for increased transit activity. City officials have said their focus is on integrating Metro service while maintaining public safety and quality of life for residents, businesses and visitors.

The Aug. 16 outing adds a more recreational side to that effort by asking residents to use the system for something familiar: a Sunday afternoon baseball game.

Participants traveling with Corman will ride directly to Union Station before connecting to the Dodger Stadium Express. Metro operates the game-day bus service between Union Station and Dodger Stadium, allowing fans to reach the ballpark without driving or paying for stadium parking.

The Dodger Stadium Express is free for passengers with a game ticket. Regular Metro fares apply for the D Line portion of the trip, and riders are responsible for their own Metro fare.

The City is also offering access to a limited number of discounted tickets for the Dodgers-Brewers game. Game tickets must be purchased in advance, and participation in the Metro ride is optional.

The outing represents one of Corman's early mayoral initiatives following his installation as mayor in April. His 2026-27 priorities include public safety, innovation and maintaining Beverly Hills' position as a premier destination while the City prepares for major regional changes and events.

With the Wilshire/La Cienega station now operating and the Beverly Drive station expected to follow in 2027, Metro will increasingly become part of everyday transportation in Beverly Hills. "Metro with the Mayor" is intended to give residents an opportunity to experience that system together rather than simply hear about it through construction notices, planning meetings and transportation reports.

For its first trip, the destination is straightforward: Dodger Stadium, with Corman and Beverly Hills residents riding together from the City's newest Metro station to an afternoon at the ballpark.
