The City has worked closely with the Beverly Hills Police Department and Metro to secure a robust plan addressing concerns tied to the station’s launch and continued operation. At the heart of this effort is a coordinated, around-the-clock law enforcement and security presence at all Metro stations located within city limits.
“The City is prepared to address public safety concerns at the Metro Station and in the surrounding neighborhoods and community,” wrote Mayor Nazarian. “The safety and security of Beverly Hills is always our top priority.”Key security measures include two dedicated police officers and one police sergeant stationed 24/7 at Beverly Hills Metro locations, supported by two private security officers per station, Metro fare enforcement personnel during peak hours, and collaboration with the City’s and Metro’s homeless outreach teams. This layered approach exemplifies proactive governance and principled planning.
In addition to operational staffing, the City has ensured the Metro station will feature high-level infrastructure protections, including a staffed public safety structure on the plaza, upgraded fare gates, citywide CCTV integration, and full communication interoperability with regional law enforcement agencies. These safeguards reflect a commitment to technological readiness and crime prevention by design.
The City Council also recognized the importance of protecting neighborhoods adjacent to the station. In response, they approved eight new sworn police positions for patrol, response, and investigations, along with enhanced surveillance capabilities through expanded CCTV camera coverage. The 2025–2026 budget proposal includes six new Community Service Officers and a maintenance staffer to ensure both safety and cleanliness in the area.
“The City is committed to providing public safety resources for the surrounding neighborhoods and community and ensuring that Metro provides the resources and service levels for which they are responsible at the stations,” Mayor Nazarian emphasized. As the La Cienega Metro Station moves closer to opening, residents can be assured that Beverly Hills leadership is acting with decisive foresight and unwavering commitment to public safety. These investments in infrastructure, staffing, and community support are clear evidence that the City puts citizen well-being at the center of its mission—before, during, and after the Metro's arrival.
